the Cone Puppet
The Cone Puppet is a popular modern day version of the hand puppet, or rod puppet.
The cone puppet is a popular puppet toy, especially across Europe.The cone puppets unique design is accomplished by attaching the puppets head to a stick, or rod.
When a large skirt-like body is added, the cone puppet can now go into action!
By pulling down on the rod, the head and shoulders of the cone puppet submerges into the cone shaped body, and disappears. In this position the puppet is 'hiding' much like the traditional Jack-in-the-box does. It, of course, is also 'waiting' in the same way as a Jack-in-the-box, too.
Quite often the unsuspecting child (or adult) can't even tell there is a puppet in this cone. That is, until the puppet jumps out and reveals itself.
